Read MoreFinally back, and i painted a lot. As always, i got super busy with work, and Life, and Sundays (when i would normally blog) are taken up with catching on work.
But i have done a lot of painting since June, for a few key events.
Read MoreAnother couple of good weeks. Finished a 20 Block, did a pallet Cleanser and am really into the new block, having finished a bunch of them. Work is as crazy as ever and we are about to properly start plastering and painting my office so i am clearing out the room.
We finished the red king campaign and i am happy to say i am sated with Frostgrave now, having played a ton of games in the past 8 or so months.
Read MoreCrazy couple of weeks, work is mental, quite a few late nights so not as much painting and we also did some actual social stuff.
I am barely at home this coming week so it will be a quiet week for painting. But I will be starting a new 20 Block this coming week.
Read MoreA 2 week update this time, works been busy and IT change arounds. Got to play a couple more games of Frostgrave and so we are 4 scenarios from finishing the Red King. Its enjoyable but its a good time to finish before it gets dull.
Still keeping good progress i think, working through many models a week, and so i can keep the backlog down (other than buying new stuff).
Read MoreIm in between computers as my machines get souped up for work, which means my normal home laptop is at work and i am on my work laptop at home, and i cannot find my tracker file (looks like its not crossed over year of onedrive yet) . heaps of work to do as well so thats my sunday.
I did have a good week, 2 games of Frostgrave and painted 11 models so its going well, will have a full update next week.
Read MoreNormal week, a full work week for me, after a few weeks of holiday, and public holidays.
Work is the same as ever, but routine is getting easier, and I am getting into the swing of things with my painting. I finished my 20 Block and have the next one ready to go.
Read MorePart of the challenge with painting is that I have heaps of stuff and from lots of ranges. If i put all my effort into painting one range or one game, one army etc, then i tend to get bored and end up looking wistfully at other models. This may mean my motivation drops off. But if i paint whatever i want, I don’t have anything finished - all my collections stay unfinished.
So this got me thinking, i want to stay motivated, i want to finish collections and I want to paint stuff that i enjoy and a variety.
Read MoreWith how busy life is, its likely that “weekly” updates wont be, but we will see what happens.
Since the last update, i have managed to paint quite a few things, played a game or two, built some more terrain, prepped a bunch more models, and kept things updating.
Read MoreSo the first WIPTW update for 2021, glad to be back into the swing of things.
A few changes from last year, as i am now mostly painting models in groups of 20, so i can always have something ready to paint, this reduces the time i spent getting ready, as i dont have much painting time at night.
Read MoreI post a lot on my painting methods but i spotted on some discussion for the Blacklist minis Kickstarter that there are some total non painters who are now looking at owning over 200 models with no idea how to paint them.
Read MoreSo i like to back KickStarters and then worry about if i will ever get them painted when they eventually arrive.
This time its the turn of Fantasy Series 1, from Blacklist minis.
Read MoreOk so its been ages since i posted, i had high hopes for posting each week but life got crazy busy last year.
So what happened last year?
Read MoreA review of the Na’Sain Shrine from Knights of Dice, what i thought of it, how it went together, how i painted it etc.
Read MoreSo its been a while, between lockdown and work exploding, but i have still been painting… and buying stuff.
I backed the original Terrain crate and have 95% of it painted, barring a few pieces that don’t fit my stuff or are too thin to be of any use (one major issue with terrain crate).
So when the 2nd one came up i backed it straight away, especially as it covers more genres than fantasy.
In the end I got one of each crate and 2 extra boxes of things i thought i wanted more of.
Read MoreSo continuing my plan to review all of the terrain i buy this is the next set.
Its the TT Combat bus stop set. Nice and cheap and very easy to assemble.
It comes with a large clear perspex back wall for the glass, which means it can be seen through, which i think adds a lot to it.
Read MoreIts been a few weeks, work has been mental busy, especially once we had to get quickly ready for lockdown, which NZ has been on since the 25th of March, and we have 11 days to go (at least).
I have not done massive painting in the first few weeks but now have a good routine, and after finishing a large project am now keen to blitz through a bunch of smaller ones.
While it would be nice to update each week, this is not meant to be a chore, so if i don’t have time, so be it.
Read MoreI have always liked TT Combats kits, i have heaps of them, almost all their residential houses, quite a few of the commercial buildings (including ruined versions) and some of the moonstone ones. i just started with their scifi stuff and the first one i got was the Comms Tower.
Annddd, it was a pig of a kit. i have assembled worse but nothing like this from TT Combat.
Read MoreAnother odd week in terms of painting. With my father visiting, he has been staying with us into my normal painting time each night (which is great), but its done damage to my painting ability.
So i only got 1 model painted but i got a bunch of prep done. andddd i bought a few things.
The cool news is that i placed in both painting competitions. I got 3rd in the GW store comp with the Magos, and i won the Infinity comp on FB. so that was fun.
Read MoreA good week, i may have bailed on Febs painting challenge as i could not get motivated by the Dredd block gangers, but i did finish (to varying levels of quality) 2 competition entries, and last night i knocked out a figure. Its nice to get back to being able to pump out some simple figures and i think i will spend this next week trying to paint 5 simple models.
