WIPTW 2020 #9 - Week 15

Its been a few weeks, work has been mental busy, especially once we had to get quickly ready for lockdown, which NZ has been on since the 25th of March, and we have 11 days to go (at least).

I have not done massive painting in the first few weeks but now have a good routine, and after finishing a large project am now keen to blitz through a bunch of smaller ones.

While it would be nice to update each week, this is not meant to be a chore, so if i don’t have time, so be it.

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

So what have i painted since the last update:

So a good number but over a few weeks, the terrain makes a big difference, but for every hedge i also have a large building like the comms tower, which only counts as one, so it balances out i guess.

Purchased and delivered:

I have not bought any new models, but did stock up on paint and some supplies before lockdown.

A few things arrived:

My Crooked dice Pulp Sci Fi Kickstarter, which has a bunch of cool Flashgordon type stuff.

I also got a large order from Hasslefree i ordered back at Black Friday weekend, but it took ages to get here through a series of stuff ups. they were nice enough to send me 5 free models that all good as a sorry.

That leaves just the order from Klukva to arrive from Black friday, but lockdown has stuffed that up.

Working on:

I have some terrain from the Carniverse i can get painting soon (dinosaur eggs and a dead triceratops), i have started on my fat yuan yuan, biophagus, Deathwatch Librarian, Walking dead models, TT combat houses and i about to undercoat my Bones 4 giant dead boat. its fun working on lots of projects, but also good to finish stuff.

Stats YTD:

So i am way ahead on terrain, but need to catch up on models. need to dig out some basic models i can churn out with contrast paints to get them done to catchup. its sort of cheating but finished models are finished models.

Pictures:

Primaris Deathwatch.

This was the March Painting challenge which i finished in early April, life got in my way. I used Corvus Black for the armour, with a shade of abaddon black, then the highlught was P3 Coal black and then an 80/20 Coal black and Vallejo light grey.

the silver was grey knight steel, with a wash of guilliman blue with a bit of black. I used Scale 75 for the coppers, and Mephiston red with highlghts and yellow for the eyes. the captains sword was a lot of fun, Caliban Green, washed with black, then a glaze of warpstone green mixed with lahmian medium, then highlighted through warpstone, moot green and then yriel yellow.

I got the shoulder pads from pop goes the monkey and have heaps more i can use.

Red Raine

A cool hasslefree model, i like the mask and axe countered with the croptop. i used a english uniform and khaki for the jacket with i think looks great.

The Major and Ellie Mental (Dallas and Leeloo from fifth element)

Nice Heresy models, not the best sculpts but they were fun and quick.

Ezekiel

Cool model, i used the foundry african flesh for him, corvus black for his coat and did some freehand for his shirt, which did not come up super well. i did not have a yellow green so i winged it on teh shirt and its ok.

Hedges

These are from CMONs Zombicide Green Horde, they came in green plastic but i thought they would be easy to paint and i was right. I did a xenithal contrast undercoat with wraithbone over black. used Ork Flesh contrast over all of them, then drybrushed with moot green and then xenithal yellow. the rocks were just basilicanum grey contrast.

below you can see how they look with a model behind them and also how i set them up to paint on my painting sticks using mounting tape, makes it so much easier.

Comms Tower:

I did a full breakdown of this at this link:
