WIPTW 2021 - Update 8

Crazy month, we have had a full lockdown, and when that happens work goes crazy. Ive not painted much in the past month but focusing on painting some heavily converted models really well.

Backlog is piling up, we are now suddently getting into Carnevale and i need to get my Stargrave stuff ready for the end of the year (which is closer than I expected, it still feels like July).

I was hoping to get to 400 models this year, I am definitely not gong to, but i am hopeful to get to 300.

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.

Painted this ‘week’:

Not bad, but some very nice individual models. really enjoyed finishing the Giantess.

20 Block Progress:

Where I am up to with the current block of 20.

Ive finished 1, 7, 10, 11 and 16. the Block is on hold while i finish my Necromunda gang but im itching to get back into them soon.

Purchased and delivered:

Ive lost track. Reaper Bones 5 arrived, as well as a bunch of stuff from Combat company, new Killteam, and some models to convert up. My infinity defiance might finally get here soon, and Nemesis Locdown.

Working on:

4 more Venators for Necro, and some terrain and then on to the rest. My office is coming along so my gaming room will be done properly soon.

Stats YTD:

Hopefully i can get to 300 for the year. but as long as i enjoy it, im fine.

Pictures:

Giantess - Cool model. i dont normally paint large models. mix of contrast and instant colours that highlighted up well. I am finding that Scale 75 Inktensity Black works well for tattoos.

Giant worms - Red is a little thinner than i would have liked but i think it still works.

Girl Child Survivor – Its fun doing pretty colours for zombie game models. I did not bother with the eyes, too small.

Izzy – I love the Monster fight club models, I just hate how hard they are to clean. I used a fluro pink to make it look more cyber punk and I think it worked well.

Old Lady – fun to do more bland colours, trying to work out the right colour for a cardigan was fun.

Nero Narcos – Good chance to use the Scale 75 Metallics on the gold. Came up really well. Cloak – I was going for a pale purple/violet and I think it came up well, though could have been smoother.

Vapour Snakes – Fast paint job. I used the GW paint they made for the ghosts, but I think it hard settled a bit so it was a bit more solid. This still worked and the drybrush came up well. I then picked out the sharpest points with white. Probably 30 minutes for all of them.

Wild Boar – used this to practice for some skin for a Minotaur. I liked the sharp red brown on the highest points.
