WIPTW 2021 - Update 7 - Lockdown Edition

As always, i got super busy with work, and Life, and Sundays (when i would normally blog) are taken up with catching on work.

But i have done a lot of painting since June, for a few key events.

I needed to get ready for our annual convention Call To Arms, so quickly painted an entire Aeronautica force, and after that we started our Necromunda campaign, so needed to get my gang painted in time.

So beyond that, normal painting, some actual time away with my family and copious amounts of work, here we are again.

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.

Painted this ‘week’:

33 Models since the last update, most of them Airplanes, which got a bit Dull, so i was very happy to move on. I lost a bit of time painting, by converting a bunch of models for Necromunda.

20 Block Progress:

Where I am up to with the current block of 20.

20 Block 03.jpg

I finished the 20 block this past week - the last 14 models, taking some time out to finish my planes and a couple extra models for Necromunda. It was good to finish my last models for Slow death games, and my awesome ltd ed inquitisitor from Victoria Minis.

The new block is below, a nice range of models, with some new ones, from Zombicide 2, some more awesome Artel and Klukva models and a cool Infinity model, as well as the Giantess from Blacklist Games,

Purchased and delivered:

Ive bought a few things since last update, the next wave of Walking dead models from Mantic, a few more Artel models, some TT combar Carnivale models and some buildings (to get the free postage), the next wave of models for Dredd (due in October), i got Zombicide Invader kickstarter and some expansions from a 2nd hand deal, a few bits and pieces from trademe, and i have Kill Team Octarius ordered.

My first batch of Bones 5 arrived, but there is more coming, though lockdown will have slowed this down.

Working on:

I have half painted the Xeno Dragon from Dungeons and Lasers, and more Venators for Necromunda and ive nearly cleaned all of the models from the Inssmouth Crooked dice Kickstarter.

Stats YTD:

Year is going well, should easily crack 300, but not massively more.

Pictures:

Lots of models this time.

Secretary - Cool little model from Brother Vinni. Face was a bit hard to paint, and its going to be a pig to base her, but it was cool to do some pink office clothes along side a big gun.

Aeronuautica Tau Airforce - basic paint job, contrast paints with highlight drybrushed on the blue and thats about it. i did paint the red properly. for the underside i left it mostly grey seer, and just painted the specific details. as its a game where you never see the underside, it seemed fine to me.

Yu Jing Soldier - Everyone keeps telling me what kind of model this is, but i always forget. either way its cool. and i really liked using the magenta paint scheme on her. i used the Scale 75 and Vallejo Magenta and highlighted up with mid pinks.

Venators - I forgot to take individual photos but once the whole gang is finished i will be doing a full post on them. The models i finished in this batch were the 1st, 3rd, 4th and and 6th from the left. lots of conversions and lots of fun to paint.

Bat Glider - a cool Dredd Model, Homer Blint, from a very old Prog of 2000AD. fun to paint different shades of black. A tricky model to get the right angle on but i enjoyed the Batman like yellow.

Zombie Banana- I painted the non dead one already. i was not able to get the same yellow but it was close and does look like the suit is dead as well. The gore was fun, its a well posed model.

Fixer Edge Runner - From Monster fight club. i wanted to do a black to purple with extreme edge on it, and i think i got there. you cannot quite see the purple in the main coat but on the edge

Ghast - a basic model, i used instant colours and some highlighting to bring it up, it looks proper dead and gross which is the point.

Ghast Scaled.jpg

Cybergoths - a small Kickstarter i backed. Nice enough models though one of the owners is a nutter so i wont be buying anything from them again. Though they have a small range so its not a big deal. It was fun to mix a variety of blacks with bright colours.

Cybergoths Scaled.jpg

Venator 8 - A conversion from the ltd ed Catachan female model. fun converting her up for my gang. made her more green/military to be distinct from other models in my gang. The guns and head are from Orlocks and the back gun from the Delaque. her name is Rapinhoe, but im not sure why…

Venator 8 Scaled.jpg

Venator 9 - A Kharadron Overlord. fun to mix with 40K bits and paint up in glorious red.

Venator 9 Scaled.jpg

Rogue Skipper - a cool model, though very small details. Nice solid blue jacket and silver armour underneath. I think she gives the impression of a military captain. i dont think thats damage on her back, i will have to check the model, would be annoying but i think its just an odd light effect.

Rogue Skipper Scaled.jpg

Inquisitor Joan - a cool model from Victoria Lamb, her 2020 Adepticon models she sold online as no adepticon that year. The grey is just the Foundry slate grey with a nice think ink wash into the gaps, and then highlighted more grey. Cloak is GW Phoenician purple highlighted up subtley so as not to look too pink. hair came up nice in a white pale.
