WIPTW 2021 - Update 4
/A 2 week update this time, works been busy and IT change arounds. Got to play a couple more games of Frostgrave and so we are 4 scenarios from finishing the Red King. Its enjoyable but its a good time to finish before it gets dull.
Still keeping good progress i think, working through many models a week, and so i can keep the backlog down (other than buying new stuff).
A bit slower this week, but they were slightly more complicated models, though i really enjoyed painting up Randall the Saint. I do also have 4 models half painted now, so should knock out heaps this coming week.
WIPTW - Rules
Keep track of what i have painted
Can only buy half of what i have painted
Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.
Painted this ‘week’:
Did my pallette cleanser of 5 demons for Fantasy 1 and working on the next batch of 20. Need to change it up soon so i can add in some more Necromunda models before we start playing Necro in July. Total of 11 models in week 1 and 4 in week 2.
20 Block Progress:
Where I am up to with the current block of 20.
I first finished the group - 16-20. Small models, and i was not able to do the eyes on them all, but its nice to finish a kickstarter. Also finished 3 - the Capodecina from TT Combat. looks like my sculpt is a less crisp as there are some extra bits, but its ok. 13, The saint, painted in a gorgeous magenta, 14, Sergey 76, my first painted klukva model, 6, Augustine from the others (to be used for Stargrave) and 4, another venator for Necromunda.
I have also painted with instant colours both the trolls (2 and 7), need to highlight them, and just have to do the armour on 10 (Leonidas), and have half finished, 11, the Futsie.
Purchased and delivered:
I completed pledge manager for a couple kickstarters, Barons War and Neo-Morphosis Infestation. Backed the new Dungeons and Lasers kickstarter.
My Zorpazorp order arrived so i have a bunch of basing materials now (loving the matt sealant), so did my Scale 75 paints so i have all of the instant colours range now, and some Vallejo metallics my wife got me for my birthday.
An order from Monster fightclub arrived, with a few more models, as did my Nickstarter for Stargrave, and a new paint bottle holder from Battlekiwi (and some wound markers).
I got notification that my Zombicide comic kickstarter is on its way, as is my dungeons and lasers 2 kickstarter, the lurkers kickstarter from Crooked dice, and Element games finally got the Aliens game stuff in stock (ordered in January i think) so a few things arriving soon.
Working on:
Still working through the 20 Block, going to change it up a bit as we are close to starting Necromunda soon and i need to finish my gang off.
Building Necro terrain and about to clear out my room so we can get it plastered and painted.
I am assembling and adding the 3d printed bits to my Primaris marines from Indomitus, so that when i get my airbrush set up i can get them ready to paint.
Stats YTD:
Good numbers, should be over 200 in a couple of weeks, so i think i can be on track for 400+ for the year. Though when i get into the weeds on painting some terrain the number will drop, but thats ok.
Pictures:
Capodecina - as mentioned above, a bit of a rough cast for me. Came up nice. I had not intended the cloak to look as purple (it almost looks like a colour shift pattern) but i like it.
Augustine - Face is a bit soft, i decided to not try the eyes, too small. Came up nice, i wanted a brighter red for the coat, and it came up nice, you cannot see it in the images but the highest points are a nice yellow ping. I like the weathering on the shield as well.
Randall “The Saint” St James - such a nice model, i was wondering how to paint him and had a flash of inspiration as i got inspired by a suit a friend was wearing at a conference i was at recently. So the Pimp suit came up, i am really happy with the paint job.
Sergey 76 - Klukva model. very nice resin. Blue Adidas pants was fun to do.
Venator 3 - a converted cadian, with GSC gun and a resin head from a 3rd party. Wanted a darker red than other models so started darker.
Children of Ferrum Sky - A kickstarter i backed. Nice models but really quite small, so not sure they will scale well. The adult models are almost as small as kid models from other ranges. probably true 25mm which is tiny these days. Eyes were a mistake but i got there on some of them.
Imps - a basic paint job, using contrast with highlights. Gave one a face marking in case i ever need a leader model.
