WIPTW 2021 - Update 5

Crazy couple of weeks, work is mental, quite a few late nights so not as much painting and we also did some actual social stuff.

I am barely at home this coming week so it will be a quiet week for painting. But I will be starting a new 20 Block this coming week.

We have Warlords this coming weekend, and we have two games to go over teh Red King, and we played 2 games last meeting and it went well.

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.

Painted this ‘week’:

Got through quite a few items, it was nice to get them done. I do feel like i am slowing down a bit compared to earlier in the year, but painting is meant to be relaxing rather than a job, so i am not stressing, they will get done when they get done.

20 Block Progress:

Where I am up to with the current block of 20.

20+Block+02+Orig.jpg

The only model left to do is 7, the Blacklist troll, he has been basecoated with instant colours, so one night of highlights and he is good to go.

So since the last update i finished, 1, 2, 5,8,9,10,11,12 and 15 since the last update.

Next 20 block is ready to go, all spray undercoated, as its the pallette cleanser. 20 block will be bigger than 20, as i have a couple of collections to do.

Purchased and delivered:

Not bought too much, so paints, and spray paints, but i have backed a couple of kickstarters, The Lucifer model one, and the Zodiac one from Scale75

My Dungeons and lasers 2nd Kickstarter arrived (just as number 3 finished on Kickstarter), and so did my CMON comics KickStarter, and sometime soon my Reaper Bones 5 will arrive. My Aliens game stuff arrived, and it turns out i had gotten the boxed wrong and ordered all the models separately, so i have double ups of models, not the end of the world.

Working on:

Nearly finished putting all the resin 3d bits on my Indomitus Marines, and then they will bed ready to paint when i have the airbrush set up.

Wife has finished her office so i am emptying out my room so she can plaster and paint my workshop. this will cause some more disruption.

Stats YTD:

if I can keep this up we are looking at 400 or more this year, allowing for some time off and block paint jobs that will get more than 3 or 4 a week.

Pictures:

Sherry - Walking Dead - One of the models from Heres Negan. As all Mantic models, a bit soft in the sculpt, but it painted up ok. the tattoos and VPL were fun to do.

Futsie - Judge Dredd - Nice model, a bit large. It was fun to paint with weird colour combos.

Leonidas - Giants in Mini - Cool model, really liked the cape. Used Contrast paints and highlights to get it done, and used Geek Gaming scenic Mediterranean ready basing for the base, which i think makes it pop.

Pilot Hannah - Hasslefree - nice model, resin sculpt. Simple and i liked giving her a slightly bright jacket. Unfortunately its tiny, so she is out of scale for almost everything i have. i am guessing proper 25mm or very small 28mm. Gave up on the eyes, too small, and im too old.

Gun Justice - HINT - Another soft model, but it will work well for cyberpunk games. the tattoos were fun and i liked doing the coat. Playing around with ideas for the basing, as they are on integral bases so its a bit tricky and i would rather not cut them all off. This is AK Interative Asphalt. Not finished with the base yet, need to flesh it out.

Wizard - Crippled God Foundry - I really liked doing the flame hands, with a little bit of a glaze on the arm, and did the same to show glowing eyes. The cloak was a bit more solid lines than i would like, but overall its a nice model.

Detective and Casualty - Monster Fight Club - Cool model, i like the run down nature of his clothes vs the bright punk stuff.

Commissar - Brother Vinni - A cool Cheesecake model. The black coat came out well and i liked doing the lining in a magenta rather than red. nice sculpt, especially after some of the softer plastic models.

Troll - Reaper Bones - Painted with Instant colours and then highlighted. still workign it out, i think it worked on the belly and bone, but less so with the skin, but its ok.
