WIPTW 2020 #8 - Week 10
/Another odd week in terms of painting. With my father visiting, he has been staying with us into my normal painting time each night (which is great), but its done damage to my painting ability.
So i only got 1 model painted but i got a bunch of prep done. andddd i bought a few things.
The cool news is that i placed in both painting competitions. I got 3rd in the GW store comp with the Magos, and i won the Infinity comp on FB. so that was fun.
WIPTW - Rules
Keep track of what i have painted
Can only buy half of what i have painted
So what have i painted since the last update:
So i got one model painted, it had had it base coated for a while so it was nice to do.
Purchased and delivered:
So Mightyape had a sale this week and i took the opportunity to pick up some Aeronatica stuff cheap. I really enjoyed the Forgeworld game (but sold my army), and am looking forward to the Tau box, so when this came up cheaper than normal (and not worth buying from Element), i went for it.
I also picked up the Emmas diner kit from Four ground. i have the ruined one so the proper one makes sense. i will assemble them both together.
This has done some damage to my stats of course.
The only item delivered was a 3D printed piece i won from OTP miniatures, from buying stuff in December. no idea what i will use it for, maybe a Saga Age of Magic Titan.
Working on:
So this week I:
Painted the flesh and hair, and basecoated the rest of Ezekiel from Mantics Walking Dead
Base coated the flesh on a hasslefree hero model
Finished assembling, adding gubbins, undercoating and basecoating 5 Deathwatch and 1 DW captain and undercoated their bases.
Kept working on the TT combat comms tower (the front door is nearly done).
Base coated the Bat glider model from the Dredd game
Started cleaning up the 2 variants of the model i will paint for the next Infinity painting comp.
So all in all i at least got some stuff done, even if it was nothing like i wanted. what was good is having some spare time to get the March painting challenge stuff ready to go. now i can focus to painting them, not finding time to assemble (which is harder to do).
Finding the balance between painting, assembling and basing is the fun part. at least when the house is finished i wont have to change rooms, so it will be easier to do.
Stats YTD:
So my numbers have blown out, which is to be expected when buying a box game. this will happen the next time i want to buy a box of plastic minis. this painting challenge works for individual figures, but less so for rank and file.
So i need to find a way to paint this stuff quickly, so i can build up points again. the good news is that painting planes wont be too hard.
i do need to find some models i can just knock out with contrast paints, like i did for Frostgrave last year.
Pictures:
Urban Police Bot - a nice little model from Brother Vinni. Not sure what to use it for, but a random robot for scifi games is not bad. i decided to not add police stuff to it to make it more generic.
i used a light grey, the army painter spaceship grey, some ink and stippling, and Grey Knight steel. nice and simple.
