WIPTW 2021 - 2021 Wrap up.
/So the year finished off super busy, and i am chilling out with the kids, enjoying some time off, doing some hobby and finishing off the house.
Clearly not a good year for blogging. Im ok at doing the writing, but the photo editing takes more time and i need to get better at this. As part of the set up of my office, ive put up some new shelves and there is a space for my photobox. the plan is to take photos during the week and edit as i go, rather than try and do them all at once.
As the room gets more sorted, its getting easier to find stuff, and im not losing time on set up, so i can just sit down and paint, which is great.
Ive gotten much better at basing, having finished almost all the models i painted this year and the others are nearly done.
Current painting focus is to get enough stuff painted for Stargrave so we have enough to play. from there i have some other mini projects to work on.
So below is a washup on the last update on the year, and my thoughts on each section.
WIPTW - Rules
Keep track of what i have painted
Can only buy half of what i have painted
Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.
Painted this ‘week’:
So a good run since the last update. i cleared a lot of models. Contrast paints were good for this, and i got really in the zone after finishing the Armies on parade entry.
20 Block Progress:
Where I am up to with the current block of 20.
A new 20 Block, nice to spread out some more models. Since starting this, i have finished, 3,4,7,9,11,20. For this 20 block i am counting both versions of Halfdan the black as 1, and 2 sheen birds as one.
Purchased and delivered:
ive bought heaps, too much to record here.
Working on:
Heaps. have more monsters for Stargrave, working on a couple of tables and enjoying flipping to fun models between 20 block and stargrave stuff.
Stats YTD:
a good year, painting 305 models and a bit of terrain. less terrain than other years, but that was mostly due to the house not being set up properly for it. 2022 should see a lot more terrain. best thing is i based almost everything, and the 4 not based are currently on the table half based.
here is the month by month. January i was out of town helping a dieing relative. but i got there. March was an awesome month as i got focused for Frostgrave and painted all the demons and monsters we needed.
it got slow in July through October. a combo of Winter which is usually slower but work was mental then, and in the later months i was heavily focused on getting the stuff done for Armies on Parade.
Pictures:
Here is a batch of the models. i will get the others done over the coming weeks.
Shadow - Artel W
Cool resin model, wanted to do her up in a dark scheme but not black. so did purple over black and I like how its worked out.
Monstrucker - Infinity
Awesome Infinity model, my first merc. I did a variant of the orange to make it more yellow to differentiate between my normal army. Really enjoyed it.
Brad - CMON the Others
One of the many models from The Others than can be used in Scifi or modern or post apoc. softer plastic so harder to get good detail but using contrast and instant colours he did not take long.
WildBoars - Blacklist Minis
Some more models from Blacklist minis. painted quickly with contrast as a nice cleanser.
Andrea - HINT
One of the HINT plastics. usual issue with them but contrast painted her up fast.
Gabriel - CMON Zombicide 2nd ed.
Nice simple model, used contrast for all but the flesh,
