WIPTW 2022 - Update 01

The first update for 2022.

Ive been on holiday since Christmas, which is a nice change from last year, but then no family members were given 3 weeks to live just before Christmas this year.

Ive been tidying up my office, sorting shelves, working out what i need to do next, and am about the point where i have to do the annoying small tidying, liek sorting individual tools into the right box etc. I will get there.

next step for the office is the painting booth and then the carpets before we sort the shelving in the storage room.

Looking forward to this year i have a number of projects on the go and am enjoying sorting blocks of models, in between the 20 blocks.

the current 20 block is taking a bit of a back seat as i sort out models for Stargrave. i have most of the monsters sorted now, and only a couple characters to go that i have to get done, and then i can get back to painting whatever i want.

Ive played 4 games of Stargrave, 2 of which are for the campaign, and as i am playing hardcore (if a model dies from injuries in the campaign i retire the model and have to use a new one) i will need to keep a reasonable supply of models ready to go.

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.

Im not so fussed on the buying side of things though i do need to be careful of course.

Painted this ‘week’:

So far this year i have painted 23 models, which is good, but 16 of them were pretty basic. churning through the monsters from Zombicide Invader for Stargrave makes it easy to rack up good numbers.

I also got motivated and painted some space marines. becuase i did not have to use my airbrush as i am doing them a darker scheme (being phobos guys) it was a bit easier.

20 Block Progress:

Where I am up to with the current block of 20.

Due to my Stargrave kick i have only painted number 5 since the last update. this leaves us with 1,2,8,1012,13,14,15,16,17,18,19 to go. looking forward to getting to them soon.

Purchased and delivered:

Since last year ive bought some more ASOIAF stuff to flesh out the nights watch army, some Sisters of battle stuff, and some more tools.

Still waitning on a stack of Kickstarters due to internatonal shipping issues, and my brother vinni order from Black friday and my squidmar airbrush.

Working on:

Working on a bunch of characters for Stargrave, plus a table of terrain is nearly finished. have a Greyknights kill team undercoated and some sisters of battle to test colour schemes on.

all in all enough to keep my interested.

Stats YTD:

A good start to the year, i have a good pace going and an enjoying it. im most happy that the basing side of things is not falling behind, so thats one issue i have fixed.

Pictures:

The models painted so far this year.

also according to my notes i have 75 models to take photos of from last year, so i will be ticking them off as i go.

“Jake Le Fou” - A Funky Skull games model representing Casey Jones. Such a cool model, i enjoyed painting it up and taking some time to do the flag on his back.

DoomFarers - Started wotrkign through the Shadowspear box of marines. the Phobos models are stealthy so i painted each of the main colours a shade darker than the normal ones, to stand out. this makes about 35 models painted for my marines, need to get the others up as well.

Juggernaut Abomination - Large beasty from Zombicide Invader, using it as either a Poragata or Sewer Dragon for Stargrave. Simple paint job made it easy and fast to paint.

Flingers - Using these in Stargrave as well, using the same style paint job.

Brood Children - Using these in Stargrave as well, using the same style paint job but slightly different on the armour plates.

Richard Kindred - A character from Zombicide. its a Harrison Ford model from Blade Runner, and he will make a good model with shotgun for Stargrave.

Night Watch Veterans - a catch up from last year. Painted all with contrast and instant colours to get different shades of black. did brown fur to give them some variety. basing was done with Geek Gaming wasteland and added snow.
