WIPTW - First proper update of the year 2020 #1

Sticking with the plan i set out for the year, here is the first proper update.

So i will probably do the images for this post over the week, as it takes ages to edit the pics.

This is the compilation of all the models so far this year (well since Christmas break). Means i have a head start on the year. Most weeks wont be this exciting, especially once i am back to work fully in a couple of weeks (though i am doing some work anyway, even did an impromptu meeting at wargaming yesterday).

In personal note, the house build is going well, so we are on track for the new home by September. thumbnail of the post is my new view.

So as a reminder the rules for the year are:

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

So what have i painted so far this year?

So quite a bit, but then i am on holiday and doing my best to clear through a bunch of stuff (and i took the opportunity to finish a bunch of half done stuff as well).

Purchased and delivered:

Nothing, i bought nothing. i am keeping an eye on a couple of kickstarters, but nothing so far has leapt out. I need to buy some more paints, but they dont count. I have completed a few pledge managers.

In terms of delivery i picked up 4 Spindle drones i bought of trademe. thinking of using them as immunocytes for Zone Raiders.

Stats YTD:

So a good start, but its early days and there is a ton of cool stuff coming out this year.

So on to the pictures.

For this first post lets just look at 2000AD models.

First up the Judges.

the Green was done with Waagh Flesh base, inked with Dark Tone, Highlighted Kabalite Green and then a mix of Kabalite and Sybarite Green.

The Yellow was Averland Sunset base, Agrax ink, highlighted with Heartfire, then Yriel yellow, then Phalanx Yellow, Dorn Yellow and then finally with a bit of white.

The black was just mixed with Exile Blue, mixed up to higher. for the edges on the lawmaster etc, i used Cygnar Base blue, then Cyngar Blue Highlight and then finally a light blue grey and then white for the pop.

One thing you won’t see and ended up being mostly pointless is that i used the range of Foundry Flesh Triads to make many of the judges different skin tones, so an african, south american etc. with helmets on you cannot really see it, but it was fund to paint some different skin tone chins.

Fattie:

this model was amazing to paint. so much flesh to paint.

For the flesh i based with Cadian Flesh then did a 50/50 with bugmans for shade then finally with full bugman. for the highlights cadian with kislev, then kislev alone.

i feel i got a really smooth job on the flesh, showing the expanse and also bits that are getting gross.

De Marco

The plain clothes version of the judge. the coat came out amazingly. i am really feeling i am getting better at painting. the coat was german camo brown, with a mix with black for a shade and then full black for the darkest bits. the highlight was adding more leather brown to the GCB. it came out so smooth, really happy with it.

Next Post i will put up my Hasslefree models painted this year.
