What I painted this 'week' - 18/8/19

Trying to keep track of what i painted each week, so i dont forget and its easier to take small batches of photos than lots at once. Reality is it wont be weekly, and this post is for what i finished last week, but this week is the post. essentially everytime i post i want to post what i have finished since last time.

I am only posting whats finished, so sometimes it looks like heaps as i finished off lots of small things that were 90% done. and we will definitely go through phases as i work on different games.

This week all up i completed 24 things, but some were harder than others of course.

Scifi Tables

These are from the Mantic Terrain Crate. Not great pieces but simple. needed to clean them up with hot water as they were warped a bit and still are really.

Spray undercoated with wolf grey or the Fang (depending on which can i have available). inked black and it was a too heavy ink, i should have gone lighter. drybrushed russ grey and then lighter with white and picked out the test tubes and paper. will do for scatter terrain.

Cones

From Microart i think. usually too expensive but Mighty ape had a sale. these are not your usual cones that they use for traffic but the big ones you see on freeways etc. i sprayed them grey seer, and then added the Contrast orange. once done i painted the alt stripes white, took a few coats (probably did a grey first). then i did a light seraphim sepia wash over the white before stippling with burnt umber for dirt. the black base is just black with secret weapon rubber highlught over it.

i am finding that resin terrain chips way too easy so i also sprayed them with a lot of varnish. you can see them on the undercoating strip i use. normally i take them off this before painting but these were simple enough to not bother.

Fridges and Stoves

From TT Combat. sprayed deathguard green and then drybrushed nurgling green (i think, whichever is the normal highlight for DG Green), then inked with agrax before being stippled with Burnt umber. the back is just a grey inked with agrax and dryrbrushed with lighter grey. i added some metallic and rust to the stoves. i magnetised the fridge doors so they stay shut but can come off. should have taken a pic.

Space Sharks - first 8.

We are playing a Badab war kill team campaign where we start small and build up to a big game at Christmas.

i am doing Space Sharks (none of this Carcharadon Astra nonsense, i am old enough to have read them as Space sharks in the original book), and decided to use MkIv marines and bought pads from Pop goes the monkey.

i will do a full post when the army is finished, and will base them in one go. i have about 30 more planned.

this is 8 tactical marines, and i happened to have the two seargeants and heavies in this block.

spray undercoated with mechanicus std grey and then airbrushed dawnstone. line inked with Darkoath flesh, edge highlighted with administratum grey. for the bits that are administratum grey (front of helmets etc), i highlight with white. black is highlighted with Dark Reaper and up to thunderhawk blue for the rivets.

simple scheme, and reasonably fast, but after months of painting variety, painting 8 models the exact same is hard.

Coming up

I am nearly done with 8 more Sharks, i have a barn that is nearly done, and some scatter terrain and am working on some hero models soon and building up for my Halloween game.
