WIPTW 2020 #4 - Week 6

I got back into the process this week, got a couple of models finished that i had started recently, and got work done on a variety of things. It was my first full week back at work and so my main focus was to getting things back on track work wise and getting my routine back down. all in all a successful week.

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

So what have i painted since the last update:

Relatively simple models, the spy being mostly black made her easy, but i complicated stuff with the white jacket on Jynx( I got it wrong and said Pulse). it was nice to actually do some basing, as i did a bunch of bases for the dredd models, by inserting a bunch of the old Ironhalo base inserts into the Warlord bases (a bit of trimming and they fit fine). i have the molds still so can make more if i run out.

Purchased and delivered:

Did not buy anything new this week model wise, though i did get some new paints from Foundry and Vallejo/Army Painter, and a few tools. Am going to be looking at some of the Gunpla tools as that sector of the hobby seems to have some awesome stuff.

I did back the Starbreach rule book kickstarter, as that seems like a good way to play a fun game with the same models i already have (or a good excuse to paint up a ton of the stuff i have already).

Nothing arrived this week, getting a little worried about my Hasslefree order that was posted a month ago, so have emailed them and the Klukva order i made back at Black friday weekend is being posted out next week - i had missed that a couple of models i bought were pre orders and they ship the entire order at once, so i am looking forward to that.

Working on:

Decided to add this section as there will be weeks i finish nothing but do get work done on a lot.

a good mishmash week. I cleaned, based and primed the 11 block gang models for the Dredd game and they are the February paint challenge with Richard, so i need to get on to that.

I spray primed and sprayed multiple levels of colour on the 4 food court pieces from Knights of Dice, and the food carts.

I finally finished the assembly and modification of the Comms Tower from TT Combat. a nightmare of a kit, i will be doing a review.

I did some work on a model for the local GW store paint comp for the end of the month and also an infinity model for another painting comp. i got the base colours and dress highlighted for the Oola Bint model.

I was meant to do some more work on the leman russ tanks but i was not inspired. they are still on my desk so i will get to them soon.

Stats YTD:

So i am back in positive and the system is still working, so thats good. In the next couple of weeks i should get a big boost as i have a bunch of models coming close to being done.

Pictures:

East Meg Spy - a nice model. i decided not to bother with different types of black and just went full trinity on her. The new GW Corvus black is a good base coat as it allows abaddon black as a shade, so you can actually shade black (not that you can see it in the pics). the highlights are skaven blight dinge and then a small amount of karak stone. The model is a bit mushy around the face so she has a big nose, nowhere near as sharp as the pics from Warlord. The resin is a bit hit and miss but it is what it is.

“Jynx” - this is a hasslefree model, i assume some sort of psyker or mage (from memory there is another version of her with a fireball). i think i will use her for Scifi, but she could also work in a modern game, and potentially a zombie game.

The dress came out well but not as smooth as i would have liked, a combo of the texture of the metal and i probably was a bit rough with the primer. the model has a brutal mold line you can see on her shoulder and its down her boots as well, which i just have to accept. the white came out well. Used the new GW white for a base and some blue for teh shades with a pure white highlight. Teh face is the nicest part of this model and i think she came out well (and i was able to do her eyes).
