Throwback - Inquisitorial Retinue

Continuing the plan of documenting my old models.

Back in 2000 or 2001, whenever either the Inquisitor game or the 40K Witchhunters Codex was released (i think Witchhunters), the local GW had a painting comp to do a retinue. i did not have money for the new range so kitbashed my own. I wont it with this retinue.

i cannot find the inquisitor who i based off the old Warhammer Quest Noble, but with Mephistons sword. he came up well but i chipped the sword and cannot bring myself to fix it. When i find him i will upload him.

So here are the models, i cannot remember the exact names from the codex or some of the bits i used, but i will try. the paint job is not great on them all, but it was nearly 20 years ago.

Ignore the bits of hair etc. i missed this before i photographed them. the models have lived in a case for ages.

I have also included below an assassin i painted recently, but never posted. he is from before these figures were released (a good 10-15 years earlier), but i painted him nearly 20 years after these ones. i hope that makes sense.

Apprentice

This is a cool model. it was barely released, and was sort of a mordheim model. She is technically a vampire model, but GW never knew what to do with her. i am glad i snapped her up. She has been used as a psyker for my guard as well.

The gun is nearly 30 years old, from an ancient hand weapons sprue, and its a hand flamer. She originally had a sabre.

Techpriest + Skull

I have no idea where this model is from. I thought it was a marauder, but it has bionics, so maybe it was an odd servitor or priest. either way i added more to him. i added more bits to him. his spine is from a necron, and i added a few other parts. the Skull is just a skull i think.

Arco Flagellant

This was back when Arco flagellants had barely any lore. they had been in the inquisitor game, and that was about it. So i had to make him. the body is from a metal flagellant, and the torso and arms an old plastic marauder, the head is a metal ork burna boys, as is the backpack with a few gribblies. The flails are from marauder flails, and i used a few guitar wires to link it all up.

Henchman 1

This is a Mordheim human captain (from the Witchhunters i think). i liked the fact that i could mix the old school style with chain mail, with the modern stuff. I cannot recall what he was but some sort of heavy weapons guy. the sword is from the old ork sprue, a giant chopper. the backpack gun is just heaps of plastic bits and greebles, with a splinter cannot barrel. more guitar wire as well.

Henchman 2

This guy is definitely from the Mordheim Witchhunters. Added the back pole which i think was from Uriah Jacobus or someone from that range. added an old pistol, and greebles to his body etc. Dont recall his role in the group, but he looks fun.

Assassin

I got this guy in a GW reprint and he came out well (better than the much newer Inquisitor i got in the same order). hes on a base i made from a reverse press mold i got from Wargames Bakery.
