WIPTW 2022 - Update 03

A month since the last update, but better than nothing.

Got some good painting in. finally finished my terrain project and got to use it this weekend in a game of 7tv pulp. Awesome game.

Working through Carnevale models and then on to Crooked dice.

I entered a painting comp, got nowhere and the model kicked my ass a bit, but i enjoyed the process and getting the marine off my painting desk (i bought it 3 years ago for a painting comp).

WIPTW - Rules

  1. Keep track of what i have painted

  2. Can only buy half of what i have painted

Its hard to keep track of the rules due to the way kickstarters work, but in general if i can avoid buying models in general to half of what i painted, and just try to minimise damage with kickstarters i will be fine.

Painted this ‘week’:

107 pieces of terrain makes the numbers look really good. some of the bits are really big, some are small but it all counts. i still have the flames and torches to go and magnetising but i can now start to work on other things.

A couple more Crooked dice models and the vampire for the 20 block as well as the one from Carnevale (as shes cool). and another gang for Street Wars NYC done, 2 to go.

20 Block Progress:

Where I am up to with the current block of 20. For a breakdown of how 20 Blocks work go here.

As of this update i have finished the following models - 3,4,5,7,8,9,11,14,16,20

And I have the following to go - 1,2,6,10,12,13,15,17,18,19,21,22,23

Good to get the vampire done and i have the Cyclops lined up next to do after the carnevale models.

Purchased and delivered:

My Nemesis Lockdown game kickstarter arrived, ive not even had a chance to open it. Bought a couple more bits for Dredd during Warlords sale and a couple of new Infinity models for General Scifi games.

I ordered a few bits to finalise Walking dead now that the game is closed by Mantic.

currently in the middle of backing the new Crooked dice kickstarter for Luna Pirates. and i ordered about 18 more buildings from Sarissa to do the terrain for the Lurkers kickstarter.

Working on:

Ive assembled about 15 buildings from Sarissa for Lurkers and am workign on my laketown terrain for stargrave and other games. About to go deep on sorting the lurkers games out, a lot of models to paint but the good thing with Crooked dice is they are not too complicated.

Stats YTD:

Looking good, but the terrain does help. average of 20 models a month is ok, of course if they are models you can paint with contrast its faster, but i like mixing it up.

Pictures:

No terrain pics this week, need to take them in a bunch and there are heaps of bits. will wait till the magnets are done.

Lord of Executions - for the painting comp. i enjoyed trying to be as smooth as i could, took ages. the lava blade was fun but did not work well, but i think the flesh coat did, and i really liked the thinned down blood for the blood god i used to show weeping blood.

Female Vampire - TTCombat. Painted for fun, enjoyed doing it, the flesh did not work super well but i like the dark red and the blood effect.

Female Vampire - Crippled God Foundry. Painted at the same time as the Carnevale vampire. a nice model, i struggled with a brush dying and trying to get one pointy enough. the flesh was ok, but did not really work and ive just noticed i got some grey on her bodice so i will fix that. She will do for a game though.

Space Ace - Crooked Dice. A cool model, easy to paint. Painted the red brighter than the vampires and it shows well.

Tetra - Monster Fight Club. silly girl model with giant rocket launcher. i liked doing the bright kiddy colours and smiley face on the rockets.

Guild Citizens - TTCombat. Im playing guild if i actually play so working on the guild half of the starter set i got from a friend who kept the Rashar. Nice and simple models, and i got to play with shades of brown and tan, off white etc. Should have the rest done soon.

Black Cobras Gang - Funky Skull Games. So fun and silly. i used the foundry african skin tones for them, and mixed them up. i liked the counter of the yellow against the skin. my favourite guy is the one with the staff, i think i got his flesh really well done.

Camera Man - Mongoose. An old Dredd model from Mongoose. no idea why i own it, painted it as it would be quick and i might be able to find a use. sculpt is rough but i expected that.
