Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago - the Warband
/Its been a while since I have posted but i have not been idle. We have been playing Killteam a lot this year, and then around Easter (i think) decided to finally get into Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago.
We had played original Frostgrave before, but with Richard rejoining the club, it was a good opportunity to get some new games going. the good thing about FGA is that you dont typically need many models although i ended up painting close to 70 and a bunch of terrain. I will post the full pics over the coming weeks.
Below are the photos of my crew and Heritor, and the next post will be the monsters. as part of my new philosophy on painting, i want to paint the characters very well, but the main focus is to get things finished, so not be as thorough on lesser models, as i have a massive backlog and play many games.
Heritor - Darius Truthseeker
I used one of the Sigmarite Warpriests from Warhammer Quest which i bought years ago as it was cool, so it was good to finally paint him up. I decided that giving him white clothes etc would be fun as it would stand out as impractical, but he would not care. overall, very happy with him.
It was fun to paint the darker flesh and keep it subtle, and highlight the gold.
Warden - Maruis Stormbringer
As the Heritor is a Sigmarite, i thought getting the Warden to be the same would be a good idea. i did not have a model, but then happened to buy the Sigmar WarAlter 2nd hand (which got way bigger than the one i had in the 90s), and it came with this cool priest model. He has armour but Wardens dont, but who cares, he looks cool. The best part of painting him was doing the lightning eyes and fingers.
Specialists - the Snakemen
I got a sprue free of these when i did one of the NickStarters from Northstar Miniatures and decided they would be cool specialists, as mercenaries. I made up 1 of each main weapon option and that was that. If i was being hardcore, just crossbow men would have been enough, but thats dull.
paint job was pretty simple, basic red, i used Sybarite Green with ink and drybrush for the scales and highighted bronze for the armour (this was before i got my scale 75 stuff).
Not my best work, but they will do.
The Crew
I used the actual crew sprues for this and made up 8 models in case it all went to hell and i had no specialists. i had recently recieved a variety of skintone triad packs from Wargames Foundry so made use of them to give them different skin tones. most came out well though i just noticed i never did the eyes, but oh well.
Next up the Monsters.
